Chamomile

Oh chamomile…the tea that everyone recommends for a good night’s sleep. But did you know this tea actually contains great benefits? This herb is especially amazing for relieving stress. When you consume this tea on a regular basis, you really reap the benefits. This is due to the fact that Chamomile contains apigenin. Apigenin is a compound that has many of the same effects as most anti-anxiety medications.

This tea is also known to support bone health and reduce menstrual pain. Chamomile is best in the evening, before a night's sleep. It's super calming and pairs well with a good book or self care notebook. We like to add some honey or agave for a little touch of sweetness.

Passion Flower has been proven to effectively treat insomnia, anxiety, and depression. It helps reduce stress throughout the whole body. Passion Flower can also help with reducing inflammation. Lavender

The scent of lavender is very calming and soothing. Lavender oil is believed to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help heal minor burns and bug bites. Research suggests that Lavender is effective in treating anxiety, insomnia, depression, and restlessness.

We recommend grabbing some lavender essential oil and a diffuser, since it is most effective when inhaled. We use Lavender anytime we feel stressed or anxious. It has serious calming effects and helps us relax. It's also really good for relieving tension and stress in the body.

A baddie tip: we love to use lavender oil in the sauna. Add a few drops of lavender to your sauna session. It smells so good and promotes relaxation. You'll get the best of both worlds, the benefits of lavender and the benefits from the sauna.

Rose Root

Rose root is another herb that possesses a lot of health benefits. This herb does a variety of things such as reduces stress via adaptogens, reduces symptoms of anxiety, helps manage diabetes and improves brain function. When taking Rose Root, correct dosing is important so many prefer capsules. However, you can get pre-made tea mixtures as well. You can expect to see improvements in mood and cognition in just one week after taking Rose Root.

A baddie tip: Anxiety and depression, is often caused by low levels of amma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is a chemical in the brain. Many of these herbs help produce amma-aminobutyric acid and help balance those chemicals. This will help keep your anxiety low and will help with depression and mood levels.

We feel herbs and managing your mental health go together. So with that being said, we want our baddies staying healthy and happy. Please know that these herbs help reduce your stress and anxiety, but they are not the only thing one should/can seek out when feeling anxious or depressed. They are not a substitute for getting a health professional, therapy, and/or prescription medications. Please remember to be patient with yourself when dealing with stress, anxiety and depression. They are very real and it's important to make sure you're putting yourself first so you can get the care you need.
