Baddie Tips on Mouth Tapping

Hello Baddies!

I hope you're all having a fantastic start to 2025! It's Ellie here. I know it’s been a while since my last blog, but life has been incredibly busy lately. Last year, I dedicated myself to focusing on my content creation skills, and this year, I'm learning and growing in my career as much as I can — all in preparation for the future here at Bad B Beauty. This is my passion, and it’s my long-term vision. I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has been on this journey with me so far; it truly means the world to me. I can’t wait to see where Bad B will be in 5-10 years!

Now for this blog, I want to talk about something I’ve recently been exploring: Mouth Tapping. Yes, you read that right. It’s something I’ve been trying for the past few months, and I’m already noticing the benefits. If you know me or have read my previous blogs, you’re probably aware that I deal with teeth grinding at night. I heard that mouth tapping could help with this, so I decided to give it a try. Also, as a fan of natural remedies, mouth tapping seemed like a simple and worth-trying option.

Nasal breathing in general has a wide range of benefits, including filtering the air, humidifying it, removing pathogens, and releasing nitric oxide, which is highly effective at fighting off viruses. Simply breathing through your nose increases your oxygenation with every breath.

Here’s a list of benefits that mouth tapping at night can help with:

  • Improved Sleep Quality: Nasal breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and deeper sleep.
  • Better Oxygenation: Nasal breathing filters, humidifies, and warms the air, enhancing oxygen absorption. The nasal passages also support better airflow, leading to more efficient lung ventilation during sleep.
  • Enhanced Nitric Oxide Production: Nasal breathing boosts nitric oxide production, which is essential for blood vessel dilation and blood pressure regulation. This may help improve cardiovascular health.
  • Reduced Snoring: Mouth breathing often causes snoring due to airway turbulence. By keeping the mouth closed and breathing through the nose, the airflow becomes more streamlined, potentially reducing or eliminating snoring.
  • Better Lung Function: Nasal breathing encourages deeper engagement of the diaphragm, which may improve lung function over time. This can increase lung capacity and make breathing more efficient.
  • Improved Oral Health: Mouth breathing at night can lead to dry mouth, which increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Taping the mouth helps retain moisture, reducing the likelihood of these issues.
  • Decreased Anxiety: Nasal breathing activates the vagus nerve, promoting relaxation and reducing stress and anxiety. This calming effect can improve overall mental well-being.

In regard to teeth grinding, mouth tapping has been helpful for me. It helps relax the jaw muscles, and since mouth breathing can sometimes cause muscle tension in the jaw (which contributes to teeth grinding), keeping the mouth closed with tape may help alleviate that tension.

Mouth tapping to encourage nasal breathing offers a range of health benefits. Breathing through your nose instead of your mouth supports a more natural and efficient respiratory process. Nasal breathing filters the air, improving oxygen absorption and lung function. It also stimulates nitric oxide production, which enhances blood circulation and reduces inflammation. Additionally, it encourages deeper, more restful sleep by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing snoring, and promoting relaxation. By incorporating nasal breathing through mouth tapping, you may experience better overall health, improved sleep quality, and even a reduction in anxiety.

There are various mouth tapes available on the market. I personally like to tape a piece of skin tape and tape it horizontally across my mouth. It’s a comfortable and affordable option that works for me. Here is the link: https://a.co/d/8fFdxKH

Let me know if you plan to try mouth tapping or if you already include it in your routine. Please keep in mind that I’m not a doctor — everything shared here is based on my research, studies, and experiences. I’ve also spoken with medical professionals who have confirmed the benefits I’ve outlined.

I hope you enjoyed this blog and are staying healthy. Wishing you all a blessed start to 2025. Until next time, Baddies!

Xoxo,
